Legal Driving Age for Cars in Vietnam

This scenario is likely familiar to many. Traffic laws are constantly updated to reflect current conditions. So, what is the legal driving age for cars in Vietnam?

According to the current regulations in the 2008 Road Traffic Law and Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, to drive a car (including trucks), you must meet the following requirements:

Car Driving Age Requirements

• Passenger Cars (Class B1, B2): 18 years old and above.
• Trucks (Class C): 21 years old and above.
• Other Vehicle Classes: The driving age for other vehicle classes is specified in Article 56 of the 2008 Road Traffic Law.

Other Requirements

In addition to age, you must also meet the following requirements:

• Health: Meet the required health standards.
• Driving Knowledge and Skills: Successfully complete training and pass the driving test at an accredited driving school.
