“Heat waves are upon us” is a common phrase in Hanoi come summertime. Amidst the scorching sun, what’s better than stepping into your truck, turning on the AC, and cruising down the road? But did you know that to provide that cool breeze, the “heart” of the air conditioning system – the car AC condenser – has to work tirelessly?
Located in front of the engine’s radiator, the car AC condenser is a vital component of the air conditioning system. Its job is to release heat from the refrigerant, transforming it from a high-pressure, hot gas into a low-pressure, cool liquid, thereby creating the cool air blown into the vehicle’s cabin.
The condenser is typically mounted in front of the grille, taking advantage of the natural airflow created when the vehicle is moving to enhance cooling efficiency. It consists of numerous thin aluminum fins stacked together, with refrigerant lines running between them. As hot refrigerant flows through these lines, heat is transferred to the aluminum fins and dissipated into the surrounding air.
For a clearer understanding of the condenser’s structure and operating principle, let’s take a look at the following illustration:

The condenser’s heat release process is continuous, ensuring the efficient operation of the air conditioning system.
