My friend, Tuan, recently purchased a new Dongfeng pickup truck for his construction materials business. He was beaming as he received the keys from the dealership on Nguyen Van Linh Street in Ha Dong, Hanoi. However, the smile faded when he mentioned the vehicle registration process. As someone with years of experience navigating the world of vehicles, I became his “reluctant advisor,” guiding him through the process quickly and easily.

Do you live in Hanoi and have a new car? Are you unsure about the car registration process in Hanoi? This article provides a detailed guide to answer your questions and help you confidently obtain a license plate for your prized vehicle.

Car Registration Steps in Hanoi

1. Prepare the Required Documents

The required documents for car registration include:

  • Other documents (if any) such as: power of attorney, documents proving the origin of the vehicle…

Note:

  • You should make certified photocopies of all documents for convenient submission and processing.
  • In case the vehicle is registered under the ownership of an organization or enterprise, additional documents such as: Business registration certificate, establishment decision… are required.

2. Submit Documents and Pay Fees

You can submit your car registration documents in Hanoi directly at:

  • Traffic Police Department (PC08) – Hanoi City Police
