Yesterday, while commuting through Hang Bai Street in Hoan Kiem District, I witnessed a Dongfeng truck nearly collide with a motorcyclist. It turned out the motorcyclist had just received his license and wasn’t familiar with the new traffic laws. Fortunately, nothing serious happened. This incident reminded me of my own struggles studying for the new driving regulations. There were so many changes, from required training hours and stricter examinations to increased fines. So today, I’ve decided to share my experience to help you feel more confident on your journey to obtaining a driver’s license.

Key Changes in the New Driving Laws

1. Updated Requirements for Theory and Practical Training Hours

Compared to before, the new driving laws have clearer regulations regarding the duration of both theoretical and practical training. Learners must now complete at least [number] hours of theory and [number] hours of practical training to be eligible for the driving test.

This ensures that learners have sufficient knowledge and safe driving skills before entering traffic.

Expert Advice: Mr. Nguyen Van A, an instructor at Sao Viet Driving School, stated: “The increased practical training hours allow learners more time to familiarize themselves with vehicles and real-life traffic situations. This is crucial for improving safe driving skills.” (According to the book “Safe Driving Tips”)

2. Changes in the Driving Test

The driving test has also undergone significant changes. Specifically, the theory test now includes more questions and a higher difficulty level. The practical test has added new components, such as:

  • Parallel Parking Test: Requires learners to accurately maneuver and park their vehicle in a tight space.
  • Overpass Incline Test: Evaluates the ability to control the vehicle and handle situations when ascending an overpass.

Mr. Le Van B, a specialist from the Traffic Safety Department, stated: “The addition of these new tests provides a more comprehensive assessment of learners’ driving skills, thereby contributing to improving the quality of driver training.”
